10 Rainbow Pride Makeup Ideas to Recreate |

In 1978, San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker created the iconic rainbow flag by dyeing and stitching eight pieces of fabric together — all by hand. "[The LGBTQ community] needed something beautiful, something from us," the late artist said in a 2015 interview with the Museum Of Modern Art. "The rainbow is so perfect because it really fits our diversity in terms of race, gender, ages, all of those things. Plus, it’s a natural flag — it’s from the sky!"
Nearly four decades later Baker's symbol remains the primary representation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and many other individuals around the globe. It's also constantly reimagined in a multitude of creative and practical ways — T-shirts, scarves, even Skittles-flavored ice cream!
Our favourite, of course, is the creative and beautiful makeup looks flooding our feeds right now. Turns out, donning a rainbow flag on your lids or lips can be just the right type of self expression that both shows support for, and celebrates, Pride Month.
For those of you who want to indulge in a little colourful creativity, we've gathered a few inspiring looks we think would be perfect to wear to your city's celebrations.
Pucker up for Pride! This perfectly blended rainbow kisser by @iluvsarahii is giving us serious lip envy. It's the perfect lippie to finish off your pride makeup look and sport at your local pride parade (or whenever you want, honestly).
2.Rainbow Lip Tattoo
If the idea of attempting to blend seven lipstick shades together doesn't sound fun to you, you're in luck. You can get the rainbow-lip look like @charlixbarker with these amazing lip tattoos from Violent Lips! This is one of our favorite ways to wear Pride makeup, beautifully and effortlessly!
This rainbow-hued mani by nail artist @sweetandsavvynails mingles beautifully on proud fingertips. If you don't already have a collection of these brights on hand, we recommend scooping up this Kleancolor set that features 12 rainbow shades you can mix and match!
We love showcasing rainbow makeup in unexpected ways, like with this vibrant lash look from @nikki_makeup. She creatively concocted colored mascaras. If that sounds like too much work, you can always grab a few tubes of colored mascara.
If you want to make a more subtle — but still shimmering — statement, wear a rainbow as your highlight. We love blending up some rainbow makeup. Stripe it out in true rainbow fashion like @elnaz_golrokh did, or blend the shades together with a fan brush for a pop of iridescent shimmer.
Like a true artist, @snitchery created an abstract look by using rainbow makeup to contour her nose and decorate her lips. We're living for her unique take on a rainbow look for Pride!
Beards and glitter are basically two of our favorite things that'll surely have a presence at Pride this year. If this is your first attempt at a glitter beard, grab a glittering gel like Unicorn Snot to give your sparkle something to adhere to. You can then up the glitter factor by adding various shades of loose glitter like @thegaybeards did with this epic beard look. We love mixes like Festival Glitter's Unicorn Pop, too! This is an awesome alternative if you aren't quite ready to blend up a full pride look, but still want to look festive.
8.Hidden Rainbow Hair
We love a peek-a-boo hair moment. If you're feeling bold, but not too bold, this hidden-rainbow hair by @notanothersalon is perfect.
9.Rainbow Smokey Eyes
This twist on a traditional smokey eye using the Roy G Biv colors by @jamescharles is perfect for Pride.
A great way to achieve the colored brow look like @stylebycat is to use a liquid lipstick as a brow product. Not only will the pigment look bright and fresh, but it'll stay on for hours, too!
